It is a Church in Sydney, Australia. They run a Christian Conference each year that attracted speakers and participants from across the globe. This year almost 100,000 people attended the different sessions. Each of the night rallies had at least 40,000 people. It was crazy. And the best part about it was that God showed up in so many ways to so many people.

I have got so much out of this week. There was teaching from some of the most influential Christian men/women and electives for just about everything. Pastors, church leaders, key business, moving in the spirit and all the way down to Youth Ministry and many, many more.

I can't begin to put into words all that God has done in my life over the past week. So I thought I'd show you a clip of the conference. See if you can spot me.

They were singing Kumbaya because our first rally night delayed the start of a Rugby match by 10min because we had so many people there heading to own of our night rallies. The sports commentators said that the game was delayed because there were people signing Kumbaya in the arena beside the stadium. So the next night the Hillsong Pastor and his son sang Kumbaya. Funny stuff.
Oh...by the way. The event is held at the site of the 200 Olympic games and we us the entire facility except for the main arena which seats 100,000. But it won't be long before they have to use that.

If your ever planning to allow God to impact your life in ways you never thought possible get to this thing next year. He will show you dreams and visions that will blow your mind. It did for me.

Hillsong pour so much time and money into this to bless others. It is really great to see and experience.

I can't wait to see what God is going to do in my life through this experience.
Stay tuned.

New Principal

Well last night we had a DVD and Dinner night for our school staff. It actually made me feel really ill and that is saying something.

Here is the perfect way to introduce students to the Writing Format of Procedures.

Create your worst possible sandwich right in front of the class. The trick is to go from start to finish without saying a word to the class. It adds to the MOMENT and really keeps them guessing what you are doing.

This is what went into the sandwich:

2 Slices of Bread (How gross is that!!!)

Vegemite (Aussie spreadable, ask an Aussie if you are unfamiliar with it)

Honey

Oregano (about 2 tablespoons)

Peppercorns ( same as above)

1/4 Cup of Cocktail Onions

125g of Tuna

125g Baked Beans

Coat top with honey to add a little sweetness

And hear is the end product...It's still not as gross as in person but I think you get the point.

YUMMY!!!!!!!

The Students then write their own procedure for their own Worst Sandwich.

What would you put in your Worst Sandwich. I didn't think that It would be this good though. So here it is....

We had our two day youth camp last week and were blessed to have 20 youth aged 14-18 attend. Not all were there for this picture but anyway. God really showed up and it was an awesome experience. We had Dave Harvey from Scripture Union as a guest speaker who has a great gift from God to speak into the lives of youth. We had one 15 year old give his heart to God and a number of others make commitments to bring God into their schools. Very exciting times ahead this year with the youth of Swan Hill.
So here was the best moment on the camp...

Background: Everyone by now should know that Australia is experiencing it's worst drought in recorded history. Up until last week we had not received even an inch of rain in 6 months or more.

On the first day Dave spoke to the us on the true meaning of taking up our cross and true repentance. As we entered a time of prayer for repentance it started to spit (Very Light rain). I will never forget the words that Dave then shouted.
"This is not happening by chance. The WORD of GOD says that 'If me people hear my word, repent and turn from their ways, then I will heal their land!!!' "
My hair stood on end.
At that moment the heavens opened and the rain pored down. This was not your average shower. I have NEVER felt rain drops that big in my life. As I lifted my head the rain drops hit my eyelid and each one was as large as my eye socket. This rain spread across the entire State. It helped ease the Bushfire crisis in the south east. This truly way a Heavenly Downpour.
We also hadn't unpacked our bags or set up tents, there was stuff lying around that would be ruined if it got wet.
NO-ONE moved, NO-ONE said a word. everyone just stood there in silence, PRAYING. It was at that moment that I knew God showed up to our little part of the Murry River. The youth noticed too, though they may not have said it, they felt it.

Final blessing,
For those of you who go camping near rivers a lot, you'll know that a lot of rain isn't good. It's a great way to turn a 2 day camp into 3 or 4 days. On that one afternoon, Swan Hill (15km from the camp site) had an inch of rain. Woorineen South (5km) away had just over an inch. Woorineen (3km away) had an inch and a half.
(Our camp site, all over the road in were made of clay. Too much rain and we have to walk out and come back for the cars.)
We had 7mm of rain!!! That's not even a quarter of the amount that people received 3km away!!!
We truly were blessed.

The next task...
Building our youth up in Christ so that they can change their schools, family and friends. And showing them that this type of experience can happen everyday. This year is going to be amazing. We could use all of your prayers for our youth, it will not be easy but with GOD on our side the battle is already won.

Change of face

Well I just thought that I'd change the look of my Blog for something to do.

It also gives me an excuse to write a new post.

Don't worry. We have won the Urn (Trophy) back from the Poms (English) in convinsing fashion, 3-0 with two tests to play. With the Boxing Day test only days away the two best bowlers Australia has ever produced have announced that they are pulling up stumps at the end of the Ashes. If you don't know who I am talking about then your not an Aussie or don't deserve to be. Thats right, Glen McGrath (Pidgon) & Shane Warne have announced their retirement. Warney is also on 699 wickets and looks as though he will take his 700th at his home ground, the MCG. Here is my tribute to two sporting legends.

(The back page of today Herald Sun)

New House, all to myself

Well, I know that it has been a while since my last update, two weeks Glenna, so here it is.
I have moved out of the house that I was boarding in and have been really blessed to be offered free accomidation. One of the local Churches is between Ministers at the moment and they needed someone to house sit their Manse. Here are some photo's of my new crib. It's huge, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and two massive living areas. And best of all a backyard, with not one but two sheds. One of which is just big enough for our boat. That's right Leighroy I have the boat in my backyard. With the drought getting so severe the only water we can ski on is up here (Kangaroo Lake only, thats for Leigh). We still don't have a name for it but hopefully that will come next week.

We only had 6 attend this week. But I recieved appologies from 10 or so others. So its looking very promising.

We had some great discussions with the youth tonight. Some of them even saying that they have been waiting years for something like this. It's great to finally realise why God wanted me back in Swan Hill. Tonight was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Could you please remember our group in your prayers.
- That the youth will be open to learning more about God
- That the leaders will be given Wisdom and Desernment
- That more leaders will be called into this ministry
- And that God's protection will be over our group.
*The group is on every Wednesday night

I'll keep you posted on the development of the group

New Job!!!!!!!!!

Well it'll be official be the time most of you read this.

I have accepted a teaching position at the Son Centre Christian School (SCCS) here in Swan Hill.

For those of you in the know you'll aready know that I attended this school for it's first 3 years of opperation. My parents were also part of the initial organisation of the school and for it's first 5 or so years. I was a member of it's 3 graduating year 6 class. As such I will now be the very first ex-student to come back and teach at SCCS.

I am really excited about this new move. I will be able to teach what I truly believe to students who have been sent to the school for that exact reason.

It wil be hard to leave St. Mary's and the staff really don't want me to go. They have all been very understanding and have wished me well.

SCCS have answered another prayer of mine. They have agreed to appoint me for 4 days a week to allow me to be a leader in the Elevate Program. (See post 'Challenged')

Thanks to everyone who prayed for me, your prayers and mine have been answered.

Nobody's Watching

Check these guys out, they are halarious.

http://nobodyswatching.tv/

Challenged

Today I attended a Youth Ministry training day in Bendigo.

It was awesome to see the way that God is working in our secondary schools. The program, Elevate requires a one day per week commitment from it's leaders to go into the schools to work with the kids.

I felt challenged to cut back my teaching to 4 days a week so that I may go into the local secondary school to help with this program. They have really struggled to find Christian leaders and will have to use none Christians if none are found. It will also greatly benefit my work as the senior youth leader connecting with the kids outside of church.

So please pray for me that God will guide me to the path that he wants me to take. Also pray for the youth of Swan Hill, they now have nothing for them to do socially with the closure of our only cinema. They have a lot of problems and are really lost.

Back at School

Well I started back at school after my operation yesterday. Through the research that I have done into these subjects, Cain's wife and the animals on the ark:
Firstly Cain's wife was his Sister. Adam and Eve were made perfect so if their offspring were to have children with each other there would be no genetic mutations as we see today when close relations marry. I am not saying here that all genetic mutations are a result of close relations marrying.
Remember that Abraham married his half-sister (Genesis 20:12). God blessed this union to produce the Hebrew people through Isaac and Jacob. It was not until some 400 years later that God gave Moses laws that forbade such marriages.
It wasn't until after the flood when God gave the commandment that close relations should not marry. (Leviticus 18:20)
Genesis 2:7 also says that there was only one man made during the creation of the earth. Therefore there were no people created outside of Eden as the normal explanation for the origin of Cain’s wife. I know that I had always believed this to be true until recently.

The Ark
Well done again Glenna. You’ve really done your research. Noah took the animals onto the ark so that after the flood they could reproduce. They were in the ark for just over a year waiting for the waters to recede. You wouldn’t like older animals taking up the room in the ark. You also wouldn’t like to take the risk that the older animals were past their child barring years as well.

I am not saying that I know all when it comes to these subjects. In all of these areas we need to rely on our faith in God’s infallible word. After all he has told us that it’s infallible and that he wrote it. Who are we to argue with that?

I could still go into a lot more detail with these two questions alone. But don’t get me wrong, I’m not doing any of this to brag. It’s a result of hearing what the students of today are being taught and wanting to re-educate all people on the biblical accounts and how to explain them in today’s terms. Angela, your post, ‘The end of Faith’, really showed this. Unless you’re have solid foundations to your argument, it’s hard to get your point of view across to change the listeners ideas. I did really like it though.

I would be interested to know if this has now changed or confirmed your view on these topics. Would you like me to set up a blog were I could share this research that I am doing so that the readers can discuss these issues?

Sorry Canada

As some of you guys already know. Over the past few months I have had the older youth of our church on my heart. They have sort of been left behind at the moment. there is a big geniration gap in our church that needs to be bridged.
This past week could really feel God giving me a kick up the bum to actually get the ball rolling. I had already talked to our Pastor along with a number of other church leaders. The all had very similar visions to me. That the youth need discipleship and not just a social youth group. After speaking to these leaders I hadn't gone any further. This week God has really pushed me to move.
Straight after church this morning two males my age who had started a bit of a get together for the male youth came up to me and asked if I could help them with their group. (That's the first confirmation) Then after the night service another person who didn't know what I had been considering said something really moving to me. She told me that as our pastor was talking about what it means to be a leader. She could see me as being a leader of the youth of our church. Being someone who they could look to for support and just someone to be there for them. It really threw me when she said this. I thought that the morning confimation was enough. But obviously not.

So if you could be praying for me as I move into this new challenge that God will provind me with courage and wisdom, it would be greatly appretiated.

Also, if anyone knows and liturature on discipling youth could they let my know.

Texas Hold'em

Tonight I played my second tournament game of Poker. (It's a free competition)
It's a great way to learn the game and not lose money doing so. For those of you from smaller towns you'll know what I mean when I say there's not much to do in your spare time. This is a great way to fill that time and not have to spend a cent doing so. Today I went with my landlord's son Ben.
Anyway we had fun and both got down to the final 20 (out of 85 people) so we were pretty happy with our efforts. May have to make it a regular night out.

Anyone got a suggestion for something to do in a small town to fill in the time?

Finally I'm Online

The long wait has been worth it. After school a couple of weeks ago one of my students came up to ask me a question. She had heard the true meaning as to why Catholics only eat fish on Ash Wednesday and some on every Friday during lent. A Pope hundreds of years ago had a brother that was a fisherman. The fishing industry was experiencing some tough times. So the Pope brought in this mandate to increase fish sales. It worked.

Anyway, I agreed with the student and used another example to back it up. I said, Jessica, "It's just like what Coca-Cola did". "What do you mean?" Jessica said. "You know, how they invented Santa Claus".
At that exact moment it hit me, the look on poor 11 year old Jessica's face said it all. She still believes in Santa, well I should say believed. A look of utter disappointment streaked across Jessica's face. The only thing that saved me was the second bell that meant all town students were able to go home. Jessica left the room with a tear welling in her eye and I have already impacted on one of my students lives. Forever I will be remember by Jessica as the teacher who destroyed Santa Claus......Perfect

The end of Term 1

Well sorry that it has been so long since I have updated my blog.

I only have access to the net at school and this site is blocked on their server. Figures

So Term 1, short though it was (6 weeks) because we have the Commonwealth games on the next two weeks here, has been great. I have enjoyed getting to know my students and all the staff have been awesome.
My old church here, Church of Christ, has moved into a renovated Grain Shed. Weird as it sounds the place looks unreal. The whole set up is state of the art with all the trimmings. It has been a blessing to be back here again. My first service back the Worship leader, my old year 6 teacher, approached me to play guitar in church. They have been struggling over the past couple of years with only one or two guitarists available to play. So I have already found one reason for why God wants me back in Swan Hill.

Well as I said before, I've got two weeks of holidays now so it's off to Geelong for me for 5 days of surfing and Golf. Teaching is the hard life isn't it, you know what I'm talking about MomentGirl.

Hope to get this back up regularly, sorry again for the delay. I know you all have missed this......not!!!

My poor Girl

RIPWell, I haven't had a good run this week.
My car's engine has ceased, therefore it needs a "new" engine.
Not a good this to have happen 7 days before I move up to Swan Hill.
But I'll survive, at least it's fixable. So when this latest offer to teach at St. Mary's Catholic Primary school I took the hint that I am meant to teach in Swan Hill for my first year out. There must have been some reason for me not being able to find a job that I liked in Geelong (My original first choice for a city to teach in).

I will be teaching 23 Grade (Year or Form) 6 students. The school has hired 5 graduate students for the coming year to join it's 20+ staff for 2005.

I was fairly surprised that I got the job. I didn't apply to for a position at the school and had told the principal that I didn't want to come back to Swan Hill to teach. He still gave me a call New Years day to offer me a position at his school. After a bit of consideration I realised that it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

So back to Swan Hill for a year before I go to Canada. Yes that is right Glenna I am coming to Canada in 2007 to teach for a year.

Farewell and see you soon

Well today was a sad day for me. I had to say goodbye to my big brother and new sister. I was very disapointed when I was unable to see them both off at the airport. My new job as manager for all YMCA Ballarat pools meant that I couldn't make the journey to Melbourne. At 4:30am I woke up to say my goodbyes. It was a very sombre moment only made better at the knowledge that I will be seeing them in 13 months. I already can't wait.

I have had a blast spending time with them both over the past few months.

Have fun in Hawaii you two.

I am just polishing off one of your juice pops that you took everyday to work.

So cheers and see you both soon.

First day at the pool

Well, today was my first day working at my outdoor pool. I have hired a weird looking guy, Leigh, to help me get the pool cleaned up ready for the start of the season.

It reminded me of the old days at home during the summer. Leigh and I would head out to a fruit farm during the holidays to 'pick a the fruit'. (That joke would only be understood by Aussie's but anyway) Leigh would be picking fruit as fast as he could and I would be sure to make it look like I was busy all the time. Today was pretty much the same thing. Leigh mowed the Lawn for 6 and a half hours with little more than 20 minutes break and I walked around all day pretending to do management work. I don't think he realised.

Probably not the best story to blog on the internet then is it?

Anyway here is a picture of me at my pool last year.

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?
